There was a great find on the hill during the breeding seabird census. It was a very old Takamaka that probably pre dates the coconuts. It is very interesting to us, as at present we are trying to plan how to get a greater diversity of vegetation on the hill. For this project we will need to consider what will or will not grow in the fairly harsh conditions and thin soils up there and it may well be the case that this tree could be a more drought tolerant strain. The seeds on the ground have been collected and will now be used in an attempt to grow on saplings.
